Sri Lanka beaches change with the seasons and the coast. The south and west — Mirissa, Unawatuna, Bentota — shine from December to March, with palm-fringed bays and whale-watching offshore.
From May to September the east coast comes into its own, with the calm sands of Trincomalee and the surf breaks of Arugam Bay.
